Meet the Nashville Predators 2011 - Jonathan Toews
Once or more a week we will introduce you to one of our players for the 2011/2012 season. Today we are starting with our Captain Jonathan Toews.
Jonathan Toews is the captain and leader of this team. He was drafted in the 1st round of the RGMG 2K12 Players Draft. The 23 year old is a definite leader and we are very happy that we were able to draft him. The reason we drafted him was because he has so many great hockey qualities about him. One is that he has a great ability to make plays and create ice for his teammates. He has great vision and makes the plays that he know he can make. He is great offensively but also is just as amazing defensively. He isnt the player that can score but chases around the puck in his own end.
Toews is 6'2/195lbs. He uses his size to make big hits and dig pucks out of corners. But he is also a very smooth and fast skater. He will drive to the net and make his presence feel very big. He also can play any of the forward posistions you want him to play. While he grew up playing center he can just as good for you playing wing.
In his 4 seasons prior to this coming up season he played with the Chicago Blackhawks. In his rookie season he impressed putting up 54 points in 64 games and now he is just getting better. As a 21 year old he was named captain of the Blackhawks and that season they won the Stanley Cup Championship. Toews got 29 points in 22 games in that years playoffs. This past year he got 76 points while leading the team to the playoffs again.

The Nashville Predators made 2 moves today. 1 Free Agent Signing and 1 Trade.
So to start of the day the Predators took a huge risk in signing Evgeni Nabokov. They signed him for 1 year for 3 Million a season. GM Edler23- was quoted saying, "We have been looking for a starting goalie and realized we could not acquire one in trade. So we are taking the risk to sign Nabokov. For this price if he ends up on a team then he will be worth the money and if not then he will be 3 Million dollars we shouldnt have spent. But we have confidence he will be on a team next year."
After was a trade with the St. Louis Blues. Nashville traded away 33 year old F Sergei Samsonov and 24 year old F Jack Skille for 24 year old F Guillaume Latendresse. When asked about this trade GM Edler23- responded, "It was a trade that needed to be made. We are getting full of forwards and Latendresse has the potential to be a 50 point player. While we wish the best of luck to Samsonov and Skille we know that Samsonov is getting older and Skille hasnt done as well on the Panthers."

Captains Named
In a Press Report the new Captain and Assistants of the Nashville Predators have been announced:

2 Blockbusters
Today the Nashville Predators made 2 blockbuster trades. One getting them 24 year old Keith Yandle and the other getting them 25 year old Alexander Edler. Both are all-star defenders. Also the Predators acquired Derrick Brassard, Matt Beleskey, Eric Fehr and Blake Geoffrion. All of them are young forwards that are RFA's and we hope to have their services for a long time.
At this moment Yandle and Edler will be partnered together for the top defensive pairing. Brassard will center the 2nd line. Fehr will play Left Wing on the 3rd line. Beleskey will play on and off on the 4th line. And Geoffrion will start in our minor league system.
Players that we dealt them for were Jeff Skinner, Matt Carle, TJ Oshie, Andrei Kostitsyn, Grant Clitsome and Jared Knight. We would like to wish them the best with their new clubs
Even though we just made 2 huge trades it doesnt mean we are done trading. We are still looking for a RW to play with Jonathan Toews. Also we are looking for a Starting Goalie! Brendan Morrison, Radim Vrbata, Sergei Samsonov and Stefan Noesen are OTB.
